Flower Girl Etiquette

If your little girl has been asked to be a flower girl at a wedding,
you should really try to make her understand of what an honor it is. Unfortunately, sometimes this special
job can turn in to a disaster. If you and your girl are well prepared in advance it can make everything run a
lot smoother. Let’s look at some suggestions.
For Mom:
- If this is not your wedding then you will still be responsible for
paying for the dress but usually the wedding couple will choose the style and color for you. Remember that
this is the bride and grooms day so you should abide by their decisions.
- Make sure that your daughter is available for all of the wedding
functions. This includes pictures, rehearsal, dinner, and whatever other function she has been invited
to.
- Be well prepared so that there are no surprises. It is extremely easy
for a young girl to become confused with new instructions.
- Sometimes the wedding party can become extremely stressed. Keep that
in mind if people action a bit crazy.
For Brides:
- Keep in mind the age of the young flower girl. This is especially
important when choosing the clothing she should wear.
- Please try to keep the flower girl’s mother up to date as much as
possible. This will help prevent a lot of confusion during this busy time.
- Try to include other young people in your wedding to be around the
flower girl. Having her as the only child will be extremely stressful on her and may lead to
problems.
- If you plan to take pictures of the flower girl do it early. As time
passes it will become harder and harder to get and keep a smile on her face.
Try to keep things fun and entertaining and your flower girl will be one of the spotlights of the
wedding.
