Usually flower girls are between the ages of 4 and 8. In the wedding itself, the flower girl will walk up the isle with a basket of pedals or some flowers. Sometimes they will even toss flower pedals along the isle before the bride makes her way out.

Sometimes a wedding will host more than 1 flower girl. It is seen by some people that the more flower pedals and flower girls present, the more luck they will bring to the bride and groom.

The flower girl baskets are usually made specifically for weddings and can also be scented. Some baskets are passed down from generation to generation. The most common styles of baskets have butterflies or flowers sewing in to the side of them.

Another important part of the flower girl is her dress. The flower girl dress usually keeps in line with colors of the bride and groom. The most important factor to keep in mind is that the dress needs to be comfortable. Children do not handle uncomfortable clothes well and if you expect her to act properly during the wedding her dress must be comfortable.

Another issue is the length of her dress. Although this is a formal event, her dress may need to be a bit shorter. Again, because of her age she may trip or fall because of the complications of a long dress.

Flower girl shoes should be well worn so that they are comfortable. If you are using new shoes it would be a good idea to have her wear them for a week or so to help break them in. Another option is to buy a quality brand named shoe. Although it will be a bit more expensive, it may well be worth it. After you are finished you may opt to sell them or give them to another friend or relatives daughter.

Children are easily distracted and only remember what they want. Try to make the wedding fun thing. A lot of practice should go in to it before the actual day comes. The time spent beforehand will be well worth it. Being well prepared will also keep her relaxed and smiling.

The funny thing about the flower girl is that sometimes she can be the center of attention and most talked about. Be sure to tell your daughter to give compliments to the bride. That will make her feel extra special as well. Because of her age she can really put the whole wedding party in the right spirit and lose some of the stress.
